Todak Seafood Restaurant
Seafood is a MUST when I am at JB.
I particularly like to visit Todak Seafood Restaurant which is also frequented by many Singaporeans (says a lot about a restaurant, right?)
Scrumptious seafood!
Lovely view!
Light on your pocket!
What more can you ask for?
I recently brought my Singaporean friends there and they were quite shocked on how reasonably priced it was for a wide array of yummy-licious dishes.
Find out below on which not-to-be-missed dishes at Todak Seafood Restaurant.
Todak Seafood Restaurant
Restaurant Todak might be a little out of the way if you are coming from JB Checkpoint (about 20-30 minutes’ drive), but it is worth it!
It is also known as Orang Asli Seafood due to its history of being located on an orang asli (indigenous people) settlement which faces the Straits of Johor.
Some seafood restaurants offer dishes made from frozen meat, but certainly not in Todak Seafood Restaurant!
They serve live seafood found in the many water tanks there (fishes, crabs, prawns, crayfish and many more!).
The BEST part of all is that you can choose your own seafood and the cooking method that you desire.
The dish that helped garner the name “Best Seafood in JB” would no doubt be their signature CHILLI CRAB which is doused in a rich and fragrant sweet chilli sauce.
Remember to order some fried Mantou (small buns) to be dipped into the chilli crab gravy (you won’t regret this!)
Below are some other mouth-watering Todak Seafood dishes that would be worth ordering:
- Red Grouper fish (steamed with savoury sauce)
- Simple stir-fried clams (spicy or non-spicy)
- Siput (also known as GongGong Shell or Pearl Conch)
- Crayfish with cereal crumbs
- Curry prawns
Tips:
- Depart around 20 minutes earlier than your projected time because it is located deep inside a gravelled trail which can be challenging.
- Go for lunch or before 6:30pm (avoid crowd and their live crabs do sell out fast).
- Salted Egg Crab did not get a good rating by most patrons.
Todak Seafood Restaurant Price
