1. Who Can Use Malaysia E-Gate?
Known as the MACS 2.0 system, the following individuals are eligible:
- Singapore citizens
- Malaysian PR
- Malaysia Automated Clearance System (MACS) pass holder
E-gates are especially useful for seasoned business and social travelers crossing the Singapore-Johor border.
Note:
- For first-timer users, you are required to register for the automatic e-gate system
- Registered users must have a minimum height of 120 cm
- Passport must have at least 3 months validity period from date of travel
2. How To Apply & Sign Up For Malaysia E-Gate (Step By Step)
Step 1: Fill up the Malaysian Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within 3 days of your Malaysia trip
- Although Singaporeans are exempted from this requirement as of January 1 2024, it is best to fill it up to avoid disruptions during the process

Step 2: Submit the MDAC form and ensure you have received the email acknowledgement
- The form will include your personal details as well as a pin number (very important! The immigration officer will ask for this to search for your information)

Step 3: Go to the manual immigration counter to verify your passport
- The counters allocated for E-gate registration are at dedicated MDAC registration counters which is situated at the JB land immigration custom lanes
- E-gate registration is only available at MDAC registration counters from 8:00am – 7:00pm from Monday to Thursday.
Step 4: Obtain a verification stamp on the passport
- For your first-visit, go through the entry and exit point through the manual counter to ensure the systems tally.
- You can then use the e-gate for your next visit!

3. When You Need To Apply E-gate Before Your Trip To JB, Malaysia
Submit the MDAC form at least 3 days before your trip. You will need to apply for E-gate on the first day of your JB trip at the MDAC registration counter.

- JB CIQ (building name for JB Checkpoint is Bangunan Sultan Iskandar)

5. How To Use Malaysia E-Gate At Custom Hall
- Find the E-gate lane at the customs hall. (it should have a signboard that says “Pintu Automatik” or Autogate and another signboard for Singapura)
- Open your passport to your identity page to scan on the machine.
- Once you enter pass the first gate, face the camera for a facial recognition scan.
- Once the green light appears, the gate will open and you are cleared to exit!

- You will be enrolling your fingerprints during your passport verification at the manual counter

1. How to enter JB using E-Gates for Singaporeans?
First-time users
- Fill up the MDAC form within 3 days of your trip

Subsequent Visits
- Fill up the MDAC form within 3 days of your vacation
- Proceed to the e-gate lanes located on the left
- Scan your passport
- Exit once the lanes have opened
2. Does the Woodlands Train Checkpoint have an E-gate?
Although the Woodlands Train Checkpoint have E-gates, they do not use the same system as MACS 2.0. You will need to go through the manual counters.
3. Is there any height restriction for using E-Gate Malaysia?
Yes, there is a height restriction for individuals below 120 cm. Children below this height have to be accompanied by their parents and use the manual counter.
4. What should first-time users of E-Gate Malaysia need to know?
For first-timers, they will need a verification stamp from the immigration officer at the manual counter. This is required for the one-time registration process and future E-gate usage. It is also proof that the immigration officer has registered your passport in the system!
5. Can Singaporeans use E-gate without submitting the MDAC?
Even though starting 1st January 2024, Singaporeans are exempted from MDAC, it is not the case for E-gate. Hence, it is best to fill up the MDAC form within 3 days before your trip so that there are no issues using the E-Gate.
